Day 1

Arrival in Darjeeling

Situated at an elevation of 7100 m above sea level, Darjeeling treats you to breathtaking vistas of verdant tea gardens and the majestic Himalayas. This charming hill town is renowned for the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, affectionately known as the toy train, and exudes an air of tranquility.

Day 2

Sightseeing Tour of Darjeeling

On the second day of your Darjeeling tour, an early rise awaits for a memorable excursion to Tiger Hill, situated 11 km away, offering a breathtaking sunrise view (subject to clear weather). 

En route back, explore attractions like Ghoom Monastery, the War Memorial, and Batasia Loop. Return to the hotel for breakfast before continuing your sightseeing journey. Explore Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park, the Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Center, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, the Ropeway, the Tea Estate, the Natural History Museum, and the iconic Peace Pagoda.

The sunrise views from Tiger Hill are a must-see spectacle, especially over the Kanchendzonga Peak. The first rays illuminating the peak create a stunning visual amidst the lush oak forests. The Peace Pagoda, erected in November 1992, stands as a significant landmark on Jalaphar hill, showcasing the 4 avatars of Lord Buddha. The pagoda, adorned with golden Buddha statues, offers panoramic views from its summit. 

Take a circumambulation around the dome-like structure and marvel at the serene Buddha statues in various poses. As the sun descends, make your way back to the hotel. 

Day 3

Journey to Gangtok

A favorite destination in Northeast India, Gangtok offers numerous viewpoints for mesmerizing landscape views and is home to diverse butterflies, orchids, and rhododendrons.

Do Drul Chorten, possibly Sikkim's largest stupa, was built in 1945 atop a hillock by Late Truslshi Rimpoche, featuring a striking golden-colored dome and two huge statues of Guru Rinpoche. Enchey Monastery, founded in 1909, offers splendid views of Mt. Kanchenjunga and showcases a Chinese-Pagoda-like design with intricate deity images adorning its walls. Day 4

Drive to Lachung

After a hearty breakfast, embark on a journey to the north Sikkim region. Check out from Gangtok in the morning and begin your scenic drive towards Lachung. Nestled at an altitude of 9600 feet above sea level, Lachung is a picturesque village surrounded by lush peaks, offering enchanting views to travelers. 

Cascading waterfalls, snow-capped mountains, sparkling streams, and a pleasant climate attract tourists from far and wide. Don't miss the opportunity to explore the charming apricot, apple, and peach orchards and shop for blankets and woven rugs.

During the journey, make memorable stops at Tashi Viewpoint for panoramic landscape views, Kabi Lungstok—a historical town with a Buddhist monastery, and Naga Waterfalls for picturesque photo opportunities. 

Continue your drive to Chungthang, where the Lachen Chu and Lachung Chu rivers converge, and visit the Twin Waterfalls and Bhim Nala Waterfalls for more unforgettable moments. Enjoy lunch at Namok (at your own expense).

Day 5

Excursion to Yumthang

En route, you'll encounter a renowned hot spring known for its medicinal properties, which are ideal for treating skin diseases. Continuing on to Yumthang, also dubbed the 'Valley of Flowers', witness its breathtaking beauty during spring when colorful blooms like alpine, primulae, and rhododendrons paint the landscape. 

In winter, the valley transforms into a snowy wonderland. Immerse yourself in the pleasant weather and marvel at the splendid views.

In the afternoon, return to Lachung for local sightseeing. Explore attractions such as Lachung Monastery, Cottage Industry, and Waterfalls, followed by a leisurely stroll around nearby villages.

Situated at an elevation of 2750 meters above sea level, Lachung Gompa is Sikkim's oldest Buddhist monastery. Belonging to the Nyingmapa sect of Mahayana Buddhism, it houses a statue of Guru Rinpoche and serves as the base for mountaineering activities and Green Lake trekking. Originally built in 1806 and later renovated in 1969, the monastery features a striking entry gate adorned with a huge prayer wheel.

Conclude the day with a delectable dinner and an overnight stay in Lachung, immersing yourself in the tranquility of this picturesque village.

Day 6

Depart for Gangtok

Visit to Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir

Enjoy breakfast, and then head out on a day trip to Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir. Located around 38 km away, Tsomgo Lake, also known as Changu Lake, sits at an altitude of 12,400 feet. Encircled by snow-covered mountains, this glacial lake is a sight to behold, attracting Brahmin ducks and migratory birds. 

Enjoy yak rides and explore the surrounding beauty while browsing through shops offering souvenirs and Yak cheese. Don't miss visiting the Lord Shiva temple on the lake's banks.

Next, head to Baba Harbhajan Singh Memorial War temple, situated about 20 km away. Situated near Jelep Pass at an elevation of 13,000 feet, this shrine honors soldier Harbhajan Singh, the 23rd Punjab Regiment, who bravely sacrificed his life in the Indo-China war of 1962. The temple, built in 1983, houses Singh's personal belongings and features a wishing pond nearby.
